TORLOWEI is about art, culture and heritage. Founded in 2017, the brand is the offspring of several traditions: from artisanal lingerie couture in Belgium to the cultures of dress and ceremony across Nigeria and Morocco. Building on previous projects and her own background in textile design, founder and creative director, Patience Torlowei, uses form and fabric as a medium to convey that what survives of us should be beauty.

With a thoroughly considered offer of lingerie-inspired ready-to-wear, we draw invariably on ideas of intimacy and femininity. We play with the borders of dress and undress, shaping ideas around power, comfort and sexuality. Our pieces are designed to be worn and interpreted as the wearer desires, bringing their vision of self and dress into the cultural and artistic legacy of TORLOWEI.

Concerned with beauty and legacy, we work to tight ethical standards and environmental considerations. We source painstakingly, design consciously and research extensively. We work with clusters of high craftspeople in France, Italy, India and beyond to produce irreplicable pieces handcrafted in our ateliers in Lagos and Tangier.
